Featured Releases: ako - SimCity3000.wave & Dan Mason - Bleed

We did an epic review and listed off tons of new releases in Episode 18! You know we had to recommend some experimental vaporwave2 from Dan Mason but our review features one of our favorite releases of the year: SimCity3000.wave by ako, which came out on Business Casual this Fall. Here’s an excerpt from the review:

The project as whole has a 16-bit approach- combining sampled sounds (and “real” instruments) with synthesized tones- which is complemented by the immersive arrangements and nostalgic care that Ako has put into the music. It’s cohesive sound and particular attention to elements of minimalism in the original soundtrack make this suitable for deep listening or as a soundtrack for building your own city. It’s successful because it sounds like a better version of what I so fondly remember with some moments even making me question if melodies are sampled or newly composed.
